BACHELOR DEGREES

ACADEMIC ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR BACHELOR DEGREES

Entry into undergraduate courses (for example a bachelor’s degree) generally requires you to have completed a secondary school qualification equivalent to an Australian Year 12 certificate.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS FOR BACHELOR DEGREES

You will need to provide evidence that you have achieved one of the following levels of English language proficiency:

  • IELTS: overall score of 6.0, no band less than 6.0
  • TOEFL: overall score of 67, section scores no less than:
    • Listening: 12
    • Speaking: 18
    • Reading: 15
    • Writing: 21
  • PTE: overall score of 50-57, no section score less than 50
  • CAE: overall score of 169, no individual band less than 169
  • VU English – English for Academic Purposes (EAP) (Level 5): achieved.

ACADEMIC ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR GRADUATE CERTIFICATES & GRADUATE DIPLOMAS

Entry into a graduate certificate or graduate diploma generally requires you to have completed an undergraduate qualification that is comparable to an Australian bachelor’s degree.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS FOR GRADUATE CERTIFICATES & GRADUATE DIPLOMAS

You will need to provide evidence that you have achieved one of the following levels of English language proficiency:

  • IELTS: overall score of 6.5, no band less than 6.0
  • TOEFL: overall score of 79, section scores no less than:
    • Listening: 19
    • Speaking: 19
    • Reading: 18
    • Writing: 22
  • PTE: overall score of 58-64, no section score less than 50
  • CAE: overall score of 176, no individual band less than 169
  • VU English – English for Academic Purposes (EAP) (Level 6): achieved.

MASTERS DEGREES

ACADEMIC ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR MASTERS DEGREES

Entry into a masters degree requires you to have completed an undergraduate qualification that is comparable to an Australian bachelor’s degree, honors degree or graduate diploma.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS FOR MASTERS DEGREES

You will need to provide evidence that you have achieved one of the following levels of English language proficiency:

  • IELTS: overall score of 6.5, no band less than 6.0
  • TOEFL: overall score of 79, section scores no less than:
    • Listening: 19
    • Speaking: 19
    • Reading: 18
    • Writing: 22

RESEARCH PROGRAMS

POSTGRADUATE ACADEMIC ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Entry into a research program (postgraduate study) requires the completion of:

  • an honours degree, or
  • a masters degree by coursework with a research component, or
  • an equivalent qualification from an approved university.

If you have a masters degree that did not include a research component, you may be eligible for one of our PhD (Integrated) programs with our Institutes for Health and Sport or Sustainable Industries and Liveable Cities.

We will assess your eligibility when we receive your complete international research degree application.

POSTGRADUATE ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

You will need to provide evidence have achieved the following levels of English language proficiency:

  • IELTS: overall score of 6.5, no band less than 6.0
  • TOEFL: overall score of 79, section scores no less than:
    • Listening: 19
    • Speaking: 19
    • Reading: 18
    • Writing: 22
  • PTE: overall score 58-64, no section score less than 50
  • CAE: overall score of 176, no individual band less than 169
  • VU English – English for Academic Purposes (EAP) (Level 6): achieved.

ADDITIONAL OR SUPPLEMENTARY ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

In some cases, courses will require additional requirements for entry to a VU course. You may need to provide information such as:

  • proof of work experience
  • a portfolio or folio of works
  • a police check or working with children check from your usual country of residence
  • a supplementary information form.
