Driving Permit is a document that allows a person to learn how to drive a car by actually driving.

A certificate of competence for the applicant duly stamped and endorsed at the back by the Inspector of Vehicles (IOV) specifying the group(s) of vehicles the applicant is qualified to drive.

A driving test revenue receipt should be attached.

A valid provisional driving license should be attached.

Application Form UCDP1 must be completed and recommendation from medical practitioner required.

Application made on form TR VII (one copy) duly completed and signed by the applicant who must be of the age of 18 years and above.

In case of an exchange permit, the original national license (not international driving permit) which must be valid at the time of exchange must be attached.

How long does it take to get a driving permit in Uganda?

This should take three to four days if you are processing a licence for the first time or adding a class. If you are renewing a lapsed licence, please allow for at least one week.
