Bachelor Of Agricultural And Rural Innovation At Makerere University

Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (BSA) is a four-year degree program designed to provide students with the technical knowledge in crop raising, agricultural chemicals, fertilizers, integrated pest management, seed conditioning and technology and other areas related to production and quality control in the food.

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

Integration of social and technical disciplines related to agricultural and rural development to enable graduates champion development in agrarian societies.

Developing a systematic view of development among professionals of rural and agricultural development.

Developing multi skilled professionals with agricultural, leadership, analytical, facilitative and reflective competencies to coordinate, stimulate and guide innovations and multi actor partnerships for improving rural livelihoods with broader view of local, regional and global trends in development.

Integrating professional and ethical values and mindsets for accountable agricultural and rural development professionals.

Providing alternative training approaches for more effective professionals to confront the complex challenges of poverty, food insecurity and natural resources management in the sub-Saharan region.

Bachelor Of Agricultural And Rural Innovation At Makerere University Entry Requirements

General Instructions :

Each applicant should possess AT LEAST a Credit or Second Class or equivalent Diploma in a relevant field from a recognised Institution plus a Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with at least 5 Passes (or its equivalent) and a Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) with at least One Principal Pass and Two Subsidiary Passes obtained at the same sitting (or its equivalent) .

The application fee of Shs.50,000/= (Fifty thousand shillings only) plus the Bank Charge should be paid to any  Stanbic Bank, dfcu  Bank (Makerere Branch), ECO Bank and Centenary Bank  before collecting the application form from the Admissions Office, Room 314, Level 3, in the Senate Building, Makerere University.

Certified copies of Diploma Transcripts (not photocopies of certified copies) from the awarding Institutions must be attached to the application forms. Incomplete application forms shall not be accepted.

Each applicant should also attach a copy of the Birth Certificate to the application form.

Candidates are warned against submitting forged academic documents.

Entry Requirements

Holders of Class II Ordinary Technical Diploma in Agricultural related field or its equivalent from recognised Institutions.
Applicants must have obtained at least a Principal Pass in any of the following subjects: Agriculture, Biology, Chemistry or Entrepreneurship at A’ Level.
