Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Computer Engineering At Soroti University
The bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering prepares the graduate for developing and using technologies, as well as being able to design, produce, and manage data elaboration systems in a wide range of applications.
Entry Requirements
Admission to First Year
Admission into the first year is through any of the three avenues, the Direct Entry Scheme, the Mature Age Scheme and the Diploma Holders Scheme.
The Direct Entry Scheme
An applicant must have obtained two advanced level passes, one in Mathematics and one in Physics, at the same sitting of the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education or its equivalent. For purposes of computing entry points, the advanced level subjects shall carry the following weights:
- Weight 3 – Mathematics, Physics
- Weight 2 – Best of Economics, Chemistry, or Technical Drawing
- Weight 1 – General Paper
- Weight 0.5 – Any other subject.
The Mature Age Entry Scheme
Admission may also be via the Mature Age Entry Scheme, after the passing of two special mature age University Examinations, one in aptitude and the other in specialised knowledge.
Diploma Holders Entry Scheme
Holders of the Uganda National Examinations Board Ordinary Technical Diploma or its equivalent can be admitted to the programme. Applicants should have obtained a Credit Class diploma with at least a Credit Pass in Mathematics.
Admission to other Years
Admission other than to the first year of the programme shall require a special resolution of the School Board and permission of the Senate. The Departments will work out all appropriate Credit transfers, which shall not exceed 40% of the minimum degree Credit Units.
Persons holding Higher National Diploma from a recognised Institution can be admitted to 2nd year, with the proviso that they will be required to take some courses from the 1st year that the School Board will have identified and deemed mandatory.

Step 1: Accessing the Application Portal Link

Step 2: Signup
- Signup by clicking the orange signup button at the bottom of the If you cannot see the button, your browser could be having a zoom in setting. Zoom out holding down the “CTRL” button and pressing “+” button on PC and “CMD” and “+” on Mac
- A password (six-digit number) will be sent to Your mobile number and your email
NOTE: Sometimes depending your Mobile Telecom service provider, the message may delay or not be delivered. In this case, don’t panic, simply check your email. The same information is sent to your email as well.
- Login using this password and your email address or your mobile number by selecting the “login with Tel No” option
- After Logging in, you will be prompted to change the password to the one you can Password should have at least a length of six Characters
- The system will take you back to the login prompt to now login with your new password
Step 3 Filling a Form
After Logging in, click on the “APPLY NOW” Button to view the advertised Schemes ,Read the instructions carefully of each of the scheme you want to apply for, Click here to Apply Online For Any University in Uganda
Fill in the application form accordingly. To submit there is minimum information that must be captured. If you don’t have this information ready, simply save the form and return later to complete it when you have all the information required to submit the application form
Once the form is completely filled and submitted the following actions can be done
