Admission requirements vary slightly according to the program the applicant is seeking admission for and/or individual circumstances. The school or department in which the applicant wishes to register may prescribe certain additional course requirements if the student is deemed to be deficient.

Application Procedure
- Obtain an application form from the Registrar’s office or from the liaison offices.
- Fill the form correctly and attach copies of all your education certificates and documents along with the application fee as stipulated in the application form.
- Return these documents promptly to the Registrar’s Office at least 3 weeks before the beginning of the new academic year.
If your application is accepted, you will receive a notification-of-acceptance letter from the Registrar. You may come to the university only if you have already received the acceptance letter.
Admission of International Students
International students may be admitted if they hold either comparable certification or university admission status in their own country. If you come from a country where the system of education does not have an A-level system; for example, Kenya,Tanzania etc a student is expected to enroll in the four year program.
Academic Documents for Admission
At the time of the student’s first registration, the student is required to present original documents. They will be certified and returned to the student. How¬ever, a student may be requested to present them again at the Registrar’s Office or to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor – Academics’ office should the need arise.
Upgrading from Diploma to Degree
Students wishing to upgrade from diploma to degree should have the following,
(i) Minimum overall Grade Point Average of 2.80 (second class lower) or better,
(ii) Recommendation from the current head of department authorizing the student to join the degree program.
Transferring to another Department
This is acceptable under the guidance of the department heads and the Registrar’s Office.
A student wishing to transfer to another department or course may do so only after completing 18 credit hours, which is equivalent to one semester.
The student must check with both the current and the new department to know whether they qualify for the transfer. If it is acceptable, the student must obtain Change of Major form from the Registrar’s Office and officially apply.
