What Is A Motorcycle Number Plate?

The first letter represents the year a motorbike was registered and put on the road. A stands for 1983, B for 1984 and so on. The last two letters represent the area code where the plate was registered. The remaining numbers and letters don’t have any specific meaning. They simply provide variation.

How To Check Motorcycle Registration In Uganda

Procedure

That this facility is only available for vehicles which have new registration books

In person application:

Visit any of the licencesing office near to you with all the required documents and the recommended application fee

Approach the services desk and request for assistance for a search and certify motor vehicle detail, pay the search fee

Upon which the attending officer will do a URA computer system data base search and issue you with the information immediately

If you require a certificate of the vehicle search you will be required to pay an additional certificate fee and be issued the certificate by the issuing authority

Online application:

Visit the web portalclick on e-services.

Under motor vehicle, click on search and certification

Capture applicants TIN, if available, details will be auto populated in grey, or select No if you do not have a TIN and fill in the applicant details.

Enter the motor vehicle number that you need to get details; select the type of application; fill in payment details; and then submit application. Upon submission, you will receive an acknowledgment receipt.

Click on the payment registration number to generate the payment slip that you will take to the bank to effect the payment.

Upon payment in the bank, go back to click on e-services under motor vehicle and Select Motor vehicle search details.

Enter the reference number and search code. Upon submission, you will see the vehicle search details.

URA will notify you about your application status within 2 working days after receiving the application.

Note: If you paid for Search and certification you will get copies of the vehicle details from the licensing officer. However, if you paid for search you will only be in position to view the details online.

How Do I Replace My Motorcycle Number Plate In Uganda?

Procedure

In case of lost number plate or logbook start by reporting it to the nearest police station, upon that you will be issued with a police report.

Then visit the newspaper office and make an advertisement of the lost number plate or logbook usually within 14 days of making the report begin the application.

How Do I Register My Motorcycle In Uganda?

Visit the Uganda revenue authority (URA) web portal Apply onlineand Login to your account using TIN and password.

On the left hand side after logging in, click on MVR Agent Registration.

A registration form will appear, enter your Tax identification Number TIN, the other information will Auto populate.
