DOCTOR OF MEDICINE (MD)

Entry requirements: There are 2 alternatives:

a) Applicants must have at least two principal level passes (with not less than a total of 4.5 points), in any of the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, or Biology attained in the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education or its equivalent. Or,b) Applicants who are holders of Medical Assistant/Clinical Officers Diploma /Certificates, Diploma in nursing or Dental Assistant, who have principal passes in Physics, Chemistry, Biology at the Advanced Level Certificate of Secondary Education or its equivalent), with not less than 3.0 points and a minimum working experience of two years.

Duration of the programme: 5 years (plus a one-year internship)

Note that:
a. All shortlisted applicants will have to undergo an oral interview before they are finally selected to join HKMU programmes.
b. All applicants to HKMU programmes must have at least 3 credit passes in relevant subjects at O-Level one of them being English.

Direct Entry applicants
Applicants applying through the direct entry scheme after having completed A level are required to apply through the Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) Central Admission System. For further information about the Central Admission System (CAS), please visit the TCU website http://www.tcu.go.tz or HKMU Website http://www.hkmu.ac.tz

Equivalent or Mature Age Applicants:
Applicants under equivalent or mature age entry schemes will apply directly to HKMU and not through the TCU-Central Admission System.

Application Deadline:
Application forms for all programmes offered by HKMU can be downloaded from the University website http://www.hkmu.ac.tz or by paying a visit to the Admissions Office at HKMU. Forms duly filled must reach the Admissions Office, not later than 31st May each year. New students will be admitted in October of every year.

MODE OF APPLICATION
Interested applicants for courses offered by HKMU should apply for Application Forms, with a non-refundable fee of TZS 30,000/=(Tanzanians) or USD 30.00 (for international students) by Telegraphic Transfer, Postal Money Order, Cheque, or Cash payable to the Bursar and sent to:

HKMU Undergraduate Courses Under Faulty of Nursing

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSCN) In-Service Programme

Entry Requirements: 1. Applicants must have completed Form IV (Ordinary Level Certificate of Secondary Education or its equivalent) with at least 3 credit passes in Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Mathematics, with a Diploma in Nursing, registered by the Nurses’ Councils and Midwives of their respective countries with at least hands-on working experience of two years in a recognized hospital.

2. Applicants must have completed Form IV (Ordinary Level Certificate of Secondary Education or its equivalent) with at least 5 passes in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology and a Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery of not less than B+ or second class awarded by an institution accredited by the National Council of Technical Education(NACTE).

3. Applicant with a certificate in Nursing and Midwifery must have five credit passes at their Ordinary Level Certificate of Secondary Education or its equivalent, where the passes must include Physics, Chemistry, and Biology and a Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery of not less than B+ or second class.

Duration of the programme: 3 years.
