How many members make up a local council committee in Uganda?
The village: A village usually consists of between 50 and 70 households and may be home to anywhere between 250 and 1,000 people. Each village will be run by a local council – local council I (LCI) – and is governed by a chairperson (LCI chairperson) and nine other executive committee members.
How many constituencies are in Uganda?
In 2016, it was composed of 288 constituency representatives, 121 district woman representatives, ten Uganda People’s Defence Force representatives, five representatives of the youth, five representatives of persons with disabilities, five representatives of workers, and seventeen ex officio members.
Who elects the village chairperson?
Village councils have between 15 and 25 members. These consist of a chairperson elected by the village assembly, all chairpersons of the vitongoji within its area and other members elected by the village assembly.
