Makerere University Grading System Scale
The Grading system for Makerere University is such that, from time to time, it is regulated by the Senate and regulatory authorities. Below are details about the grading system of Makerere University;

Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA)
CGPA at a given time shall be obtained by;
i)Multiplying the Grade Point obtained in each course by the credit units assigned to the course to arrive at the weighted score for the course.
ii)Adding together the weighted scores for all the courses taken up to that time.
iii)Dividing the total weighted score by the total number of Credit Units taken up to that time.
Classification of Awards
- The classification of awards for programmes offered by the University is prescribed in Tables below.
- The scale used for classification of awards is given under Assessment Procedures for a specific programme.
- Courses taken as “Extra” shall not be considered when computing the classification of awards but shall be recorded on the candidate’s academic transcript.
