Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) is a Ugandan Public University located in Western Uganda, Mbarara City, 7kms on Mbarara- Bushenyi road.
MUST’s vision is to be the center of Academic and Professional Excellence in Science and Technology. In order to achieve this vision, MUST is building a team of highly qualified and skilled persons who can ably contribute to providing quality and relevant education at the national and international levels with particular emphasis on science and technology and its application to community development.
Applications are therefore invited from suitably qualified Ugandans to fill vacant positions that exist in MUST. Applicants are required to submit formal application letters accompanied by detailed CVs, certified copies of all relevant academic documents, and copies of their National Identification Cards. In addition, they should indicate three names, telephone contacts, and e-mail addresses of professional referees. At least two of the referees should separately send sealed confidential reference letters attesting to the applicant’s competencies for the job applied for.

FACULTY: SCIENCE
Department: Education Foundations and Psychology
Position: Senior Lecturer (Educational Psychology)
Salary Scale: (M5)
Reports to: Head of Department

Qualification and Experience
- Ph.D. holder in the relevant field
- Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology or a related field.
- Bachelor of Science or Arts with Education (Minimum of a Second Cass Upper) from a recognized University
- A minimum of three (3) publications in peer-reviewed journals. The applicant must be Principal Author in at least 50% of those publications.
- Teaching experience of at least five years.
- Experience in supervising graduate students to completion.
- Experience in mentoring students and supervising of School Practice.
- Experience in writing grant proposals is an added advantage.
- Should have a good track record of service to the community.
- Should be computer literate.
- Must not be above 45 years of age at the time of application.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Teaching, engaging, informing, and inspiring staff and students through both classroom and online delivery of lectures, tutorials, and seminars
- Developing required teaching material for both classroom and online delivery.
- Supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students undertaking research projects.
- Conducting research and disseminating research findings.
- Assessing and evaluating students’ work, compiling and grading of examinations results.
- Contributing to the planning and evaluation of academic programs in the Department / Faculty.
- Assisting in marketing the course, as required.
- Participating in professional duties such as faculty open days and other recruitment activities as appropriate.
- Contributing to the University and wider society through community service.
- Writing proposals for attracting funding to the Department.
- Mentoring junior staff and students.
- Performing administrative functions in the faculty or department as may be assigned.
- Any other duties assigned from time to time by the Head of the Department.
FACULTY: APPLIED SCIENCES AND TECHNOLOGY
Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering
Post: Senior Lecturer Electrical and Electronics Engineering

- Master’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Power, or Communications Engineering or a related field.

Post: Assistant Lecturer (Biomedical Engineering)

Qualification and Experience
- Master’s degree in Biomedical, Mechatronics, or Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of Upper Second Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical, Mechanical, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related Engineering.
- Must not be above 35 years of age at the time of application.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Teaching, engaging, informing, and inspiring staff and students through the delivery of lectures, tutorials, and seminars.
- Developing the required teaching materials and contributing to the maintenance and improvement of existing programs.
- Developing and implementing effective assessments and ensuring that adequate feedback to students is provided.
- Fostering and maintaining links with the industry sector at a local and national level.
- Assisting in marketing University academic programs as required.
- Undertaking appropriate levels of mentorship for students.
- Supervising the work of students in areas such as personal projects, fieldwork, and industry placements.
- Communicating effectively with colleagues and students
- Performing any other official duties as assigned by the Head of the Department.
DEPARTMENT: UNIVERSITY SECRETARY’S OFFICE

Qualifications and Experience
- ‘O’ Level Certificate with a pass in English.
- Valid driving permit with classes B, DL, and DM.
- At least three (3) years of experience driving small to medium omnibuses.
- Basic knowledge of motor vehicle mechanics shall be an added advantage.
- Training in defensive driving shall be an added advantage.
- Must not be above 35 years of age at the time of application.
Duties and responsibilities
- Driving an assigned vehicle(s) to defined destinations.
- Maintaining the safety and cleanliness of the vehicle.
- Inspecting the vehicle prior to departure for whichever destination.
- Keeping track of the service record and reporting to the mechanic when due.
- Identifying any mechanical problems and reporting to the mechanic for assessment.
- Responsible for the log book.
- Maintaining the safety of the passengers and their luggage.
- Loading and unloading of luggage.
- Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time
