POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMS
MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
The minimum requirements for admission to any Postgraduate degree are:
- Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or its equivalent with at least 5 passes
- Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) or its equivalent with at least 2 principal passes.
- An Honors degree from an accredited degree awarding institution
- Candidates who have a Pass degree should have at least a Postgraduate Diploma with at least a credit from an accredited degree awarding institution. Mbarara University Postgraduate Admissions
Additionally, for international applicants:
- Applicants whose first language or medium of instruction is not English, must provide evidence from a recognized English language training institution that they have sufficient command of English language.
- Have a documentary evidence of Internship Training indicating disciplines and dates.
- International applicants should have their documents verified by NCHE.
- International applicants, should have their degree certificate and transcript translated and converted into an equivalent of Ugandan Universities’ CGPA
- Be registered or eligible for registration with Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council.
- A current certificate of good standing with the Medical Practitioners’ Council of the country of origin.

1. Master of Business Administration
An honors degree
Sit and Pass the Graduate Admissions Test (GAT) of Mbarara University of Science and Technology
Faculty of Computing and Informatics
1. Postgraduate Diploma in Business Informatics
A degree in Computing, Information Technology, Information Systems, Informatics, Business Studies or a degree in other STEM-related fields from a recognized institution
2. Postgraduate Diploma in Health Information Technology
A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Information Technology/Information Systems/Computer Engineering/Software Engineering or any other computing related field or other STEM-related degree from a recognized higher institution of learning
OR
A bachelor’s degree in Medicine, Nursing, Dentistry, Pharmacy and any other health care-related degree fron a recognized higher institution of learning

3. Postgraduate Diploma in Information Systems
A degree in Information Systems or Computer Science or Software Engineering or Information Technology or Computer Engineering from a recognized institution

A degree in any other STEM-related field with evidence of having taken acceptable courses in information systems

4. Masters in Business Informatics

5. Master of Science in Health Information Technology
An honors degree in health care related field (e.g Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Dentistry) or Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Technology from a recognized institution
6. Master of Science in Information Systems
An honors degree in Information Systems or Computer Science or Software Engineering or Information Technology or Computer Engineering or equivalent

DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY
The University offers PhD in the fields of Biomedical Engineering, Computing, Development Studies, Education, Management, Medicine and Science. Program duration is 3 years.
Minimum Requirements
- Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or its equivalent with at least 5 passes
- Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) or its equivalent with at least 2 principal passes.
- An Honors degree from an accredited degree awarding institution
- A Masters’ degree from an accredited degree awarding institution
- A Concept paper
- Curriculum Vitae of proposed supervisor(s).

- CASES OF IMPERSONATION, FALSIFICATION OF DOCUMENTS OR GIVING FALSE/ INCOMPLETE INFORMATION WHENEVER DISCOVERED WILL LEAD TO AUTOMATIC CANCELLATION OF ADMISSION.
- Completed Applications must be accompanied with certified copies of academic documents
- Applicants whose first language is not English or did not go through an education system with English as a medium of instruction will be required to provide evidence from a recognized English language training institution that they have sufficient command of English language to cope with the programmes.
