Registration Of Title Act In Uganda
An Act to provide for the registration of title to land and for related matters. The object of the Act is to provide a system for the registration of title to land and interests in land. In reference to a code. In reference to a code (such as Uganda Code), the word title refers to the broad subject heading under which a law is classified. For example, Uganda Code is organized into fifty titles, each title pertaining to a particular subject.
Process For Registration Of Title Act In Uganda
Plainly stated land titling is the process where land is handed from the previous owner to you, the future owner. Each country and territory have their own register documenting who owns what land. This register also includes information about mortgages, covenants, caveats and easements.

Requirement For Registration Of Title Act In Uganda
Step 1: Prepare the Requirements for Transfer of Title.
Step 2: Submit all the Required Documents for Tax Computation.
Step 3: Pay the Required Taxes.
Step 4: Get a Certificate Authorizing Registration (CAR)
Step 5: Submit the CAR to the Local Treasurer’s Office.

Purpose For Registration Of Title Act In Uganda
The main objects of land title registration are to protect property rights, to facilitate transactions in land, and to enable land to be used as collateral for a loan. A title provides incentives for investment in land and therefore creates an impetus for sustainable economic development.
Period For Registration Of Title Act In Uganda
Requests to expedite – up to 10 working days. Assent of registered land – around 7 weeks (this would usually be completed in 1-2 weeks).

Fees paid at the Ministry: Registration fees – UGX 10,000; Assurance of Title – UGX 20,000; issuance of the Title – UGX 20,000.
After Certificate For Registration Of Title Act In Uganda
The Certificate of Title is a document that gives a detailed history of the home’s ownership, including a comprehensive legal description of the property. Once the final checks are complete, and the money is sent to your solicitor, they will then pass on the funds to the seller’s solicitor.
The Department is responsible for issuance of certificates of titles, general conveyance, keeping custody of the national land register, coordination, inspection, monitoring and back-up technical support relating to land registration and acquisition processes to local governments
