Sexual and reproductive health is a field of research, healthcare, and social activism that explores the health of an individual’s reproductive system and sexual wellbeing during all stages of their life. Reproductive health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity, in all matters relating to the reproductive system and to its functions and processes.

The three essential components of reproductive health are as follows: Sexual health. Family planning. Maternal health. It protects both the mother and the child from infectious diseases and to deliver a healthy baby. It provides complete knowledge about the early pregnancy, infertility, birth control methods, pregnancy, post-childbirth care of the baby and mother, etc.

It deals with the reproductive processes and functioning of reproductive system at all stages of life and not merely the absence of disease. Reproductive health education (RHE) is an important component of school curricula. It helps students in the decision-making process regarding several issues concerning reproductive health. However delivering RHE at schools is a difficult task for the teachers. Reproductive health is a condition when women and men enjoy a satisfying and safe sex and the capacity to reproduce offspring and the freedom to decide if, when and how often to do sex. This note introduces the concept of reproductive health along with its aspects.
A woman’s reproductive system is a delicate and complex system in the body. It is important to take steps to protect it from infections and injury, and prevent problems including some long-term health problems. Taking care of yourself and making healthy choices can help protect you and your loved ones. Many lifestyle factors such as the age at which to start a family, nutrition, weight, exercise, psychological stress, environmental and occupational exposures, and others can have substantial effects on fertility; lifestyle factors such as cigarette smoking, illicit drug use, and alcohol and caffeine consumption.
