Requirements For E Passport In Uganda

Requirements For E Passport In Uganda

With the e-passport personalised, citizens leaving or entering the country can freely do so without necessarily interacting with immigration officers using e-gates. The government of Uganda will soon be installing automated e-gates at Entebbe airport. Biometric passports are scanned using specialised equipment. To increase travel document protection and traceability, an e-Passport integrates chip-enabled passports with a biometric ID card. It is equivalent to a regular passport in regards to registration, verification, as well as information.

An e-Passport contains an electronic chip. The chip holds the same information that is printed on the passport’s data page: the holder’s name, date of birth, and other biographic information. An e-Passport also contains a biometric identifier. These documents are security certificate, individual’s passport copy, husband’s, mother’s or father’s passport copy, birth certificate, marriage certificate, etc. Look through the full list of the documents on the application form. You also pay visa fee and attach payment receipt to the application.

But unlike ordinary passports, the electronic passport has a contactless microprocessor that stores a digital version of the ID photo and all of the ID data found on the first page of the paper passport. Besides, digital fingerprints can be stored. At first glance, an e-passport looks just like a regular passport. However, an e-passport comes fitted with a small electronic chip, something similar to as seen on a driver’s licence. The microchip stores all the information that is printed on your passport including name, date of birth, address and other details.
