About St. Karoli Lwanga Nyakibale School of Nursing and Midwifery
Karoli Lwanga School of Nursing and Midwifery started in 1971 as the Karoli Lwanga School of Nursing. Originally the school offered training for Enrolled Nurses who served in Nyakibale Hospital, the mother institution. Progressively the School expanded its training services to Hospitals in the region and smaller non-governmental units. Following this expansion, the school also began recruiting and training private candidates. In 1999 a School of Midwifery was established with the purpose of addressing Maternal and Child Issues in this region of the Uganda. In accordance with the Health Sector Strategic Plan, Enrolled Comprehensive Nursing Course was started in May 2005. Karoli Lwanga School of Nursing and Midwifery is a Department of the Karoli Lwanga Hospital in Nyakibale and is fully owned by the Kabale Diocese of the Roman Catholic Church.
