Executive Secretary Applauds UBTEB Assessors and Verifiers on Embracing Modular Assessment.
UBTEB conducted the first set of modular assessment during the July-August 2023 examinations series. The Board is currently marking the examinations for the currently conducted examinations at two designated examination centres.

The Executive Secretary Onesmus Oyesigye (CPA), applauded the Assessors and Verifiers for embracing the modular assessment of TVET programmes.
“We concluded successfully the conduct of the first modular assessment by UBTEB. I was impressed by the job well done by the Assessors and Verifiers during the conduct of Vocational and Technical examinations;” Oyesigye stated.
He called upon the Assessors and Verifiers to sensitise the public on the benefits of modular training and assessment including flexibility in training and hands on skills. He also called upon the TVET institutions to admit all Ugandans interested in acquiring skills fit for the 21st century.
“I encourage you to enrol for modular training and get more skills for yourself.
There is nothing wrong if an Accountant enrols for a course in Mechanical Engineering” Oyesigye further stated.
The Board as part of continuous improvement, conducts training of Assessors and Verifiers annually.
This is intended to strengthen and build the capacity of Assessors and Verifiers to enable the Board carry out the national assessment of TVET programmes.
The Board invited a total of 440 Assessors to mark candidates who sat for examinations in the disciplines of Technical and Vocational Diploma and Higher Diploma and Agriculture programmes.
The marking exercise started on 19th August 2023 and will end on 3rd September 2023.
The Executive Secretary called upon the Assessors to exercise the highest degree of integrity in the marking of the candidates’ scripts.
The Executive Secretary was accompanied by staff from Secretariat. He wished all Examiners successful conduct of the marking exercise.

The July-August 2023 Examinations Kick Off Well
Uganda Business and Technical Examinations Board (UBTEB) has commenced the conduct of competence-based assessment and examinations for a total of 53,765 candidates from 506 examinations centres across the country.These examinations series shall end on 19th August 2023.
As part of vigilance and ensuring the security of examinations, the Board has deployed 600 Examinations managers including Reconnoiters and Monitors.
Given the practical and hands on assessment of some modules, the Board deployed 2,500 practical Assessors and 50 verifiers. I am glad to report that we successfully delivered all examinations materials at all storage facilities in the country.
The Board has deployed practical Examiners, Monitors and Reconnoiters to ensure smooth conduct of examinations in accordance with the Rules on conduct of examinations.
We are impressed to report that the conduct of the first modular assessment for 30,369 candidates at 405 TVET institutions has commenced well. We commend the Heads of centres for the job well done.
