YMCA Admission/Intake

Institute new status

YMCA Comprehensive Institute has been cleared by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) for a provisional license to start offering degrees. This changes its status to Other Degree Awarding Institute (ODAI). We have been cleared to start degree programs.

ADMISSIONS:

There are three intakes in the academic year i.e. January, May, and August. Each intake might have a different set of programs offered.

Minimum Requirements:

Degree Programs;

  1. Uganda applicants for Degree programs should hold either;
  2. UCE and UACE Certificates with 2 Principle passes, or
  3. Diploma from a recognized Institution of Higher Learning in a relevant discipline.

Foreign Applicants;

  1. Prospective applicants whose final high school grades are in percentages and average points system e.g. Sudan, DRC, Rwanda, Burundi, Zambia and others must have their grades first equated or standardized by Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) before admission to YMCA Comprehensive Institute.

Kenyan applicants for degree programs should hold either;

  1. The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) holders must have a minimum Grade of C+ and above, OR
  2. The Kenyan Advanced Certificate of Education “GCE or A-levels” applicants must have at least 2 principal passes or its equivalent.

Diploma Programs

  1. O-Level Certificate
  2. At least one Principal pass at A-level and two subsidiaries, or
  3. A certificate in a relevant discipline from a recognized institution.

Certificate Programs

  1. An O-level certificate with at least 5 passes English inclusive

Application for Admission for degree programs;

Application forms are available at all our campuses at a non-refundable fee of Twenty thousand (shs25, 000/-) Ugandan shillings. The forms should be returned to the Academic Registrar’s office and the following should be attached:

  1. Photocopies of all educational certificates and relevant academic documents.
  2. A copy of the receipt of application
  3. Three (3) Passport size photographs

Application for Admission for Diploma and certificate programs;

Application forms are available at all our campuses at a non-refundable fee of fifteen thousand (shs15, 000/-) Ugandan shillings. The forms should be returned to the Academic Registrar’s office and the following should be attached:

  1. Photocopies of all educational certificates and relevant academic documents.
  2. A copy of the receipt of application
  3. Three (3) Passport size photographs
