If you are a high school senior or a student who has completed high school and has not yet enrolled at another college or university after graduation, you should apply for freshman admission.

Freshman students are those who have not previously enrolled in a regionally accredited college or university, or who have only enrolled in college courses prior to high school graduation.

UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

The minimum requirements for admission to any Undergraduate degree are:

  1. Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or its equivalent with at least 5 passes
  2. Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) or its equivalent with at least 2 principal passes.
  3. Diploma holders must have passed with at least a credit.

The minimum requirements for admission to any Diploma programme are:

  1. Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or its equivalent with at least 5 passes
  2. Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) or its equivalent with at least 1 principal pass and two subsidiary passes.

The minimum requirements for admission to any Certificate programme are:

  1. Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or its equivalent with at least 5 passes

Additionally, for international applicants:

  1. Applicants whose first language or medium of instruction is not English, must provide evidence from a recognized English language training institution that they have sufficient command of English language.
  2. Have a documentary evidence of Internship Training indicating disciplines and dates.
  • International applicants should have their documents verified by NCHE.
  1. International applicants, should have their degree certificate and transcript translated and converted into an equivalent of Ugandan Universities’ CGPA
  2. Be registered or eligible for registration with Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council.

A current certificate of good standing with the Medical Practitioners’ Council of the country of origin.

Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology

1. Bachelor of Biomedical Engineering

Diploma Entry

Diploma in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Engineering

A Diploma in a relevant Medical Technology

Other Diplomas approved by the University to be equivalent to any of those stated above

2. Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics Engineering

Diploma Entry

Diploma in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Engineering

A Diploma in a relevant Medical Technology

Other Diplomas approved by the University to be equivalent to any of those stated above

1. Bachelor of Business Administration

Diploma Entry

Hold UDBS or ODBS or HFM Diploma recognized by the University or must have completed at least level one of CPA, ACCA, or CIMA

2. Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance

Diploma Entry

Hold UDBS or ODBS or HFM Diploma recognized by the University or must have completed at least level one of CPA, ACCA, or CIMA

3. Bachelor of Science in Economics

Diploma Entry

Hold a Diploma in any Business related field for an accredited institution

4. Bachelor of Science in Procurement and Supply Chain Management

Diploma Entry

Hold a Diploma in Business related field with a Credit score from a recognized institution

Holders of CCNA must have certificate of completion of all four levels

3. Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering

Diploma Entry

Hold a Diploma in: Software Engineering or Computer Science or Computer Programming or Information Technology or Computing and Data Science or Computer Networks and Data Security or Computer Forensics and Cyber Security.

Diploma in any other field that will be deemed relevant

Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies

1. Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Livelihoods and Farm Production

Diploma Entry

Diploma in any Agricultural related field

2. Bachelor of Science in Gender and Applied Women Health

Diploma Entry

Diploma in any relevant field

3. Bachelor of Science in Planning and Community Development

Diploma Entry

Diploma in any relevant field

Faculty of Medicine

  1. Advanced Diploma in Child and Adolescent Mental Health

Diploma Entry

Diploma or higher qualification in any relevant field

Evidence of prior experience of working with children and adolescents

Must be able to commit time to study and to undertake clinical work with children on a weekly basis at their workplace throughout the programme

Should demonstrate basic IT skills

2. Diploma in Counselling

Diploma Entry

The Diploma in any relevant field

3. Diploma in Emergency Medicine

Diploma Entry

Clinical Officer or Registered Nurse

Evidence of completion of 2 years post-qualification clinical practice

Full registration with the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council or Nursing Council or Allied Health Professionals’ Council, or equivalent

A current Certificate of Good Standing with the relevant Medical Council

Three letters of reference/recommendation from either former teachers or professional colleagues

Evidence of an adequate knowledge of clinical sciences (anatomy, physiology, pharmacology) which may be further assessed by a pre-course paper.

4. Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science

Diploma Entry

Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology from a recognized institution.

Registered with Allied Health Professionals’ Council

Submit two reference reports one from current employer(s) and the other from the institution where the Diploma training was done.

Sit and pass an entrance examination consisting of three written papers in Clinical Chemistry, Haematology & Blood Transfusion, Histopathology, Microbiology, and Parasitology.

6.Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery

Diploma Entry

Diploma in any Bio-medical Sciences.

Be registered by the Allied Health Professionals’ Council or the Uganda Nurses and Midwives’ Council

Preference will be given to those with experience of working under primary health care in a rural setting

The candidates who meet the above criteria will be required to sit for an entrance examination in General Paper, Anatomy, Microbiology, Pharmacology and Physiology

7. Bachelor of Nursing Science

Diploma Entry

Registered Nurses or Midwives or Comprehensive Nurses or Psychiatric Nurses or Paediatric Nurses

Registered or eligible for registration with Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council

Should have passed science subjects especially Mathematics and Chemistry at ‘O’ level

Sit and pass an entrance examination in Anatomy, Physiology, Microbiology and General Paper

8. Bachelor of Pharmacy

Diploma Entry

Diploma in Pharmacy.

Should have passed Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and English at O’ Level with at least a credit.

Sit and pass an entrance examination consisting of three written papers in Pharmacology, Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Natural products, Introduction to Dispensing and Physiology

9. Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences

Diploma Entry

Diploma in Pharmacy or Diploma in Science Laboratory Technology.

Should have passed Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and English at O’ Level with at least a credit

10. Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy

Diploma Entry

Diploma in any one of the following: Occupational Therapy, Orthopaedic Medicine, Clinical Medicine, Orthopaedic Technology, Exercise Science, Nursing or Sports Science.

At least a credit in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics at O’ Level or its equivalent

Sit and pass pre-entry exams

Faculty of Science

1. Certificate in Science Laboratory Technology

A UCE certificate or its equivalent with a credit in two Science subjects i.e. Chemistry, Biology or Physics and a pass in Mathematics and English

2. Diploma in Science Laboratory Technology

Diploma Entry

Certificate in Science Laboratory Technology with at least a credit pass or its equivalent from a recognized institution

3. Bachelor of Science with Education (Physical)

Diploma Entry

Diploma in Science Education

4. Bachelor of Science with Education (Biological)

Diploma in Science Education

5. Bachelor of Science with Education (Chem/Math)

  • All academic documents presented must be from an accredited institution
  • CASES OF IMPERSONATION, FALSIFICATION OF DOCUMENTS OR GIVING FALSE/ INCOMPLETE INFORMATION WHENEVER DISCOVERED WILL LEAD TO AUTOMATIC CANCELLATION OF ADMISSION.
  • Completed Applications must be accompanied with certified copies of academic documents
  • Applicants whose first language is not English or did not go through an education system with English as a medium of instruction will be required to provide evidence from a recognized English language training institution that they have sufficient command of English language to cope with the programmes.
