Mutolere School of Nursing and Midwifery

Mutolere School of Nursing and Midwifery is a private not for profit Nursing Training school, affiliated to Uganda Catholic Medical Bureau, and belongs to Kabale Diocese. The school is registered by the Ministry of Education and Sports, Classified under Vocational Training with registration number ME/TVET/097

Mutolere NMTS offers the following academic courses

1.      DIPLOMA NURSING (EXTENSION) COURSE

The school offers a Diploma Nursing Extension Course leading to an award of a Diploma in Nursing.

Eligibility to the course

(A)  Applicants must either be:

ii) Diploma Midwife

iii) Enrolled Nurse

Enrolled Comprehensive Nurse

(B)  Applicants must pass the entry examination and is verified as a suitable candidate by the Interview panel.

(C)  Must have acquired experience of two years or more but not more than 10 years in service.

(D)  Intake is once a year in May

(E)   Duration of the Course is 18 months (Three semesters)

(F)   Award:

a)      Diploma in Nursing by Uganda Nurses and Midwives Examination Board (UNMEB).

b)      Certificate as a License to practice as a Nurse by Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council (UNMC).

2.      DIPLOMA NURSING DIRECT-ENTRY COURSE

The school offers a Diploma Nursing Direct Course leading to an award of a Diploma.

Eligibility to the course

1.      Applicants must have

  •  A principal pass in biology and a Subsidiary pass in Chemistry at “A level”
  •  Credits in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and English at “O level”

2. Applicants must pass the entry examination and is verified as a                   suitable candidate by the Interview panel.

3.      Intake is once a year in November

4.      Duration of the course is 3 years

5.      Award: (i)  Diploma in Nursing by Uganda Nurses and Midwives Examination Board (UNMEB).

(ii)  Certificate as a License to practice as a Nurse by Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council (UNMC).

3.      DIPLOMA MIDWIFERY (EXTENSION) COURSE

The school offers a Midwifery extension course leading to an award of a Diploma in Midwifery.

Eligibility for the course

  • The applicant shall be eligible for admission on extension course, if she has had at least two years experience in the clinical area and not more than (10) years in service.
  • Has been verified and found fit for the course.

An applicant must either be:

a.       Enrolled Comprehensive Nurse

b.      Enrolled Midwife.

c.       Registered Nurse

       I.            Gender: Currently for females only.

    II.            Intake is once a year in May

 III.            Course duration is 18 months (Three semesters)

 IV.            AWARD:

  • Diploma in Midwifery by Uganda Nurses and Midwives Examination Board (UNMEB)
  • Certificate as a License to practice as a Midwife by Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council (UNMC)
4.       CERTIFICATE MIDWIFERY COURSE

The school offers Certificate Midwifery Course.

(A)The entry requirements are:

  • O’level certificate with,
  • A Minimum of Five (5) Passes in the following subjects:
  • English Language, Biology, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics.

N.B. (Agriculture/Home Economics/Foods and Nutrition/ Health Science compensate for physics if not done or failed at senior four)

“A” Level is an added advantage.

(B)  Intake is once a year in May.

(C)  Gender: For both male and female

(D)Must have attained the required minimum educational standard not more than three (3) years since the completion of senior four or six.

(E)  The Applicant must satisfy the interview panel.

(F)   Duration two and a half years 2 ½  (five semesters)

(G)Award

  • Certificate in Midwifery by UNMEB
  • Certificate of  license to practice as a Midwife by Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council (UNMC)
5.      CERTIFICATE NURSING COURSE

The school offers Certificate Nursing course.

The entry requirements are:

(A)A Minimum of Five (5) Passes in the following subjects:

  1. English Language
  2. Biology
  3. Mathematics
  4. Chemistry
  5.  Physics
