Rainbow International School

By | February 13, 2020

Rainbow International School Uganda (RISU) began in September 1991 as a primary school with 29 children. In September 1995 the school moved to a 9-acre site with purpose-built classrooms to which an administration block was recently added.

Since then student numbers have grown steadily and this has been matched by physical development of the facilities and infrastructure. Rainbow has 6 science laboratories, 3 computer rooms with a 24/7 internet connection, 2 music rooms, a hall each in Primary and Secondary, a drama room, 2 art rooms, 2 football pitches, a basketball court, a volleyball court and a 25-metre swimming pool. The school expanded into the provision of A Level in 2000 and today has close to 800 pupils on roll ranging from 21⁄2 years old up to University entrance level. What makes us different.

Admission at Rainbow International School

Application Process

The Rainbow admissions policy reflects our all-inclusive philosophy and we are happy to consider applications from any child of school age. The procedure to be followed in considering an application depends very much on the stage the child has reached in their education but whatever the age of the child, before offering a place we need to know the child’s previous educational background and know how well he or she will be suited to the programme we offer at Rainbow.

As is the practice in most schools which follow the British system, children at Rainbow are placed in a year group according to their age. However, we appreciate that children join Rainbow from different backgrounds and circumstances and, in exceptional cases, a child will be placed in a different year group than their age warrants. All applicants are normally interviewed by the head teacher or deputy head prior to the offer of a place and their decision regarding placement of a child will be final.

Campus Visit

If you are considering bringing your child to Rainbow, please do come and visit together with your child and view the facilities for yourselves. We can arrange a tour of the site during school hours, accompanied by student guides who will be happy to answer any questions.

We also encourage parents who are thinking about choosing Rainbow International School to let their children join a class for a day to experience the school for themselves. This can easily be arranged by contacting the school, by phone, e-mail or personal visit.

Mrs. Shruti Gadhia, the Rainbow Public Relations Officer, handles all admissions and can be contacted at pro@risu.sc.ug she can provide copies of the prospectus, which can also be downloaded by clicking the below download link…Download the Risu Prospectus

APPLICATION REQUIREMENT

To apply for a place you will need to complete an application form, which can be obtained on request from the school or can be downloaded by clicking here.
Along with the completed form, for applications to be considered we also need the following documents:-

  • Two recent passport sized photographs
  • Copy of birth certificate
  • Copy of passport (page with photo and personal details)
  • A recent school report and/or a leaving certificate
  • Where external exams have been taken, the results certificate(s)

Please note that the demand for places is often high and some year groups are usually over-subscribed. It is advisable to make early arrangements to enrol your child at Rainbow. In the case of a class being full, your child will only be placed on the waiting list.

Applications for admission are received throughout the year and admission interviews are conducted during the course of the Term including holidays.
