St. Simon Vocational Institute Hoima in Hoima

St. Simon Peter’s vocational training centre is a private vocational training institute that offers practical technical courses. It was was founded in 1986 by the missionaries of Africa working under Hoima Catholic Diocese and registered with the Ministry of Education Science Technology and Sports, with number PTS/S/56 and with Examination Centers for Uganda Business and Technical Examination Board, and Uganda Vocational Qualification Framework, number UT084 and UVQF/024 respectively.

A) Diploma Courses (2 Years Semesiter Basis)

  1. National Diploma In Mechanical Engineering
  2. National Diploma In Building And Civil Engineering
  3. National Diploma In Electrical Engineering

Minimum Entry Requirements For Diploma Programmes

  • One Must Have Completed Sinior Six With Atleast One Principal Pass In Either Physics Or Math
  • One Must Have Successfully Completed Craft Part Two (Advanced) In The Related Field
  • Holdeers Of National Certificate In The Related Field

B) Certificate Courses (Termly Basis)

(I) Advanced Level (1 Year)

  1. Craft Part Two In Building And Concrete Practice
  2. Craft Part Two In Motor Vehicle Technician
  3. Craft Part Three In Electrical Installation
  4. Craft Part Two In Plumbing
  5. Craft Part Two In Carpentry And Joinary

Minimum entry requirements for advanced level
Holders of craft part one in the related field

(II) National Certificate Courses(2 Years)

  1. National Certificate In Automotive Mechanics
  2. National Certi Ficate In Plumbing
  3. National Certificate In Electrical Installation Systems And Maintenance
  4. National Certificate In Building Construction
  5. National Certificate In Welding And Fabrication
  6. National Certificate In Wood Technlogy/Carpentrey And Joinery
  7. National Certificate In Agriculture

Minimum Entry Requirements

  • Holders Of “O” Level Certificate
  • Uganda Junoir Technical Certificate (Ujtc)
  • National Junoir Vocational Certficate

Non-Formal Programme (Short Courses 3 -6 Months )

  2. Motor Cycle Repair And Maintenance
  3. Building Construction, Tile Laying And Concrete Practice
  4. Cosmetology And Hair Dressing
  5. Tailoring And Knitting

N.B The above fees structure is provisional, management reserves the right to adjust upon consultation with governing council.

PAYMENT OF CENTRE DUES

Fees is payable at any Centenary Bank Branch on A/C No. 3100041462 Hoima Branch, plus Bank charges of 2.300= per banking using the official Bank slips obtained from the office of the cashier/Accounts section. After payment of fees, Bank slips must be presented to the Cashier and then be issued with an official Institute receipt.

NB It is unacceptable to pay money by cash at the Institute.
