Tosamaganga Institute of Health and Allied Sciences (TIHAS) formally known as Tosamagangaschool nursing and Midwifery was established in 1996 by the Diocese of Iringa Roman Catholic church for the purpose of grooming the students morally in addition to the acquisition of knowledge, and skills, and attitude relevant to nursing practice.

The institution is registered by both the National Council for technical education (NACTE), and Tanzania Nursing and Midwifery Council (TNMC).
