Bwindi School of Nursing and Midwifery

UNSB is an affiliate program of Uganda Christian University Mukono and, students will receive their diplomas as graduates of UCU. There are two intakes in an academic year, and each of them has a different set of programs offered.

  1. Direct Diploma Programmes – Course duration 3 years (November intake)
    1. Diploma in Nursing
    2. Diploma in Midwifery

Admission Requirements

To be eligible for the direct entry into the Diploma in Nursing Programme, a candidate must satisfy the following admission criteria:-

O level Results:- Credits in the following subjects; English, Biology, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.

A level Results:- A principal pass in Biology and two subsidiaries in Chemistry, Physics, Food and Nutrition and Mathematics.

  1. Extensor Diploma Programmes – Course duration 1.5 years
    (May intake)
    1. Diploma in Nursing
    2. Diploma in Midwifery

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for either of the above courses, one must have enrolled with Uganda Nurses and Midwifery Council and with a working experience of at least 2years:

Enrolled Nurse or Midwifery – Should be at least in possession of “O” level certificate -Pass a pre-entry Ministry of Education and sports Oral and Written Interviews.

Age limit 25 years – 45years

On successful completion of the State Final Uganda Nurses and Midwives Examinations Board (UNMEB) candidates are registered by Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council (UNMC) and issued a practicing certificate.

  1. Certificate Programmes – Course duration 2.5 years
    (November intake)

To be eligible for the direct entry into the Certificate in Nursing and Midwifery Programmes, a candidate must satisfy the following admission criteria:–

O level Results:– Credits in the following subjects; English, Biology, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
